irony
irony
- it is ironic that a festival forces people to divide or unite. the stress, the lack of sleep, the attack of details, the expectations, the rampant availability of junk food, the liquor, the personality conflicts, and the full schedule all weigh in as allies to destroy relationship. and yet, the focus, the team work, and the shared experience join forces to create a strong sense of family, causing people who don’t know each other very well to suddenly feel very close.
- it is ironic that we sometimes feel surprised when people are out-of-control and rude – the environment is draining, the food not sustaining, and the liquor personality changing.
- it is ironic that redford is a manly icon, while the festival has feminine leadership. is this classic gender stereo typing? male = concrete, rigid, cold -vs- female = creative, feeling, expressive. maybe there are more straight guys balancing out the team than i am aware of…
- it is ironic that we want staff and volunteers to stay healthy so as to fulfill their jobs while we invite them to party, stay up late, and give them lots of sugar and salty stuff
- it is ironic that the festival is about film, but people talk alot about all the free swag around town
- it is ironic that none of the free swag is stuff we need or even will keep – we all have winter jackets, do we need another one? we all have hats and caps and gloves, do we need another one? we all have access to water, do we need it bottled up for us? we all have coffee mugs or shirts or (fill in the blank), do we need another one? alot of the stuff gets discarded. do i like the extra jacket as much as the next guy? you bet (ironic) [i didn't collect swag this year, except an extra hat]
- it is ironic you can have some films that are very good and some films that are really, really poor in the same fest. why are not all the films good, really good, and very good?
