spontaneous skills seen
I observed these skills used at an Area Toastmaster Table Topics contest. They are a great way to improve your conversation in business and social settings:
1. Laughter – laughing at the question and/or yourself
2. Simple expressions done well, “Oh!”
3. Repetition of words to emphasize ideas
4. Anecdotes/story
5. Confidence
6. Strong voice
7. Humor – exaggeration, embellishment, imagination
8. Strong, short, summary statement
9. Emotional story – personal, specific examples, thoughtful reflection and admonition
10. Personal disclosure – what I have learned, my faults, sincerity
11. Gestures, use of hands
12. Pause
13. Reposition yourself to be seen by different people
14. Keen insight
