thoughts on struggle, the good news, and clues
OBSERVATIONS:
- faith in Christ is a struggle = wrestling with God. we are bombarded with options to trust anything or anyone instead of Jesus.
- no coasting alllowed. yes, there are seasons where life is easier, but we can never put our guard down; we must continue to ‘fight the good fight’ of trusting Jesus.
- expect to be hard on yourself, who isn’t?
- expect dark forces to remind you of your bad choices and failures
- sin (unhealthy choices) has never been worth it
GOOD NEWS:
- Christ has given us everything we need to live godly lives. will we rely on his gifts?
- we are admonished to ‘make every effort’ to trust and love God – choose him!
- we will be rewarded for our trust and love
- the more we know Jesus, the stronger we get
HOW DO WE GET TO KNOW GOD BETTER?
how do we have a relationship with an invisible God?
- we find clues in scripture – read the bible and look for clues. how Jesus was is how God is.
- we find clues in creation – spend time out of doors; creation reflects the character of God
- we find clues in others – spend time with other believers
- we find clues in the Holy Spirit – spend time in prayer and listening
